Match the source to the question before reading its conclusion. A product label concerns a specific product. A board record concerns a person or establishment. A meeting document may describe a discussion rather than a decision. Keep the source’s subject in view while reading its conclusion.

Begin with the full claim, including its date and qualifying words. Then ask what the linked record establishes and what it leaves open. The definitions below help keep a strong-looking headline from outrunning the material underneath it.

A

Advisory committee

A group that offers advice to an agency rather than changing a rule by voting.

As of September 26, 2026, adding a substance to the federal 503A ingredient list required rulemaking; an advisory vote alone did not amend that list.(a)

At the November 3, 2026 check, FDA (the federal Food and Drug Administration) had not added minutes or a transcript to its July 2026 meeting page. HHS (the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) reported favorable votes for six of the seven peptides in a publication dated October 30, 2026.(b)(c)(d)

Rulemaking is the formal process for issuing a rule, including a proposal and public comment. Ask whether a cited document is an agenda, a staff recommendation or a completed agency action. Keep those descriptions distinct in any note.

L

Label

The product-specific details reviewed with an approved medicine.

Product details checked in September 2026 showed different storage needs: some peptide medicines require cold storage while others use room temperature.(e)

Ask for the instructions that belong to the exact product being discussed. Keep the form and full name with the document. If a general care page appears to disagree with product details, ask the pharmacist and prescriber to reconcile the wording. A broad category is not enough to choose which product instructions apply.

R

Report

A record of an event that still needs to be interpreted within its limits.

FDA’s adverse-event notes state that a submitted report neither establishes cause nor provides an event rate.(f)

An event rate tells how often something happens in a defined group. A report and a measured rate answer different questions. Ask what group was studied, what was measured and whether the described product matches the planned one. Keep any limitation attached to a number or conclusion rather than carrying the conclusion forward alone.

W

Withdrawn nomination

A request to consider an ingredient was taken back by its nominator.

The nominated-but-withdrawn table still carried safety concerns beside its entries on the FDA page dated April 22, 2026.(g)

Withdrawal by itself did not give FDA clearance, put a substance in Category 1 or approve it for compounding. FDA still supplied no withdrawal date for each substance as of November 3, 2026.(g)(h)

On October 30, 2026, HHS published a separate draft policy for epitalon, semax, BPC-157, MOTS-c, KPV and TB-500. It said HHS did not intend to take enforcement action against state-licensed pharmacies and doctors compounding these peptides for an individual patient’s prescription. All ten conditions must be met, including limits on the ingredient’s form and how it is given. Only single-ingredient drugs fall within the policy; blends and 503B outsourcing facilities are outside its scope. The draft is nonbinding and does not give FDA approval. None of the six appeared on FDA’s 503A bulks list, its official ingredient list, as of November 3, 2026.(c)(d)

A nomination is a request for consideration. The first category concerns enforcement policy, meaning what the agency plans to do. Read the date as the page date, rather than inventing the day a substance changed status. The status of an individual ingredient still needs its own careful reading.

Read the limit with the claim

  • Does the source address this product, this use and this kind of care?
  • Is the document reporting, proposing, advising or deciding?
  • Which date belongs to the event, and which belongs to the page?
  • What qualification would change the meaning if it were left out of the summary?
